Student Eligibility Requirements
Students may be undergraduate or graduate students, enrolled in CSE, EE, MAE, IE.
Students may work as interns up to a maximum of three semesters.
Students must work 20 hours per week at the Industry member site during Spring and Fall Semesters, and 40 hours per week during Summer Session. Each student is expected to complete the 340 or 440 hours commitment.
Students must also be enrolled full-time as undergraduates and have completed (or be currently completing) the minimum required courses in the Embedded Systems curriculum. For Arizona State University, these required courses are CSE 360 and CSE 421.
Internship Requirements
In order to receive credit for your internship as well as a full payment you must perform all of the following tasks:
- You must work a minimum of 340 hours during the spring and fall semester and 440 for the summer.
- You must obtain an internship application form from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering web site, complete the form and return it to the SCI Advising Center.
- You must maintain a daily work record and submit weekly to the industry administrator, Joanne Banno. This report should document the tasks performed, what was learned and the plans for the next reporting period.
- You will be required to make an oral presentation on the day on or before Reading day of the semester you worked in. You must submit a final written report at the end of the semester. NOTE: If all reports are not completed by the end of the semester, academic credit will be withheld and an incomplete grade will be posted. Also, if your internship has been renewed, you will not be able to start until all reports are completed.
- You must comply with all other request for information throughout the semester.
